Great dinner, fair prices, wonderful server. Would have been 5 stars, but Fox news was playing in the bar. NOT acceptable.
Can't go wrong here... We come here quite often and have never had a bad meal. Craft beer selection is hit or miss but they usually have at least one IPA. Head over to Race Street Brewing after dinner for some great local beers.
We got to go there this evening for dinner. It was amazing. The food was so good, and the kids can be a bit picky. They have already planned on what they ate having the next time. Our waitress was great even though they were really busy. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone.
The Best Italian wedding soup I have ever had. They claim it is homemade, and I believe it. I'm including a picture of it. It has the meatballs AND shredded chicken breast, which only elevated it for me. Full of flavor, and you know that for me, Flavor is King!
For dessert, they claim the owners mother makes them all from scratch. I've no reason to doubt. I ordered the lemon something pie. Closely resembles key lime pie, but lighter with a nice smooth lemon flavor and excellent Graham Crissy and not heavy at all .. very airy, in a good way! I enjoyed that.
For entree I ordered the cucumber walleye salmon (about $21 as I recall). That was NOT enjoyable at all. I asked beforehand how they prepared it, and was told "medium / medium rare". I like it more on the medium rare side, but this was prepared fully medium if not medium well as it was very dry! That was very disappointing, so I didn't bother past two bites. Personally, I thought the cucumber was overkill .. that much cucumber would overpower the natural flavor of the salmon, had it been cooked properly (to my preference/ request that is).
I ordered a side of their fresh pasta ($1 additional) because I prefer fresh if available, and two meatballs ($1.75 each) with their own marinara sauce. The pasta tasted fresh (good), the
Meatballs were decent (not Wow, but good), the sauce was much on the sweet side, so definitely did not prefer that. So for a total of $21+$1+$1.75+$1.75=$25.50, they discounted $15, leaving my small side pasta dish at $10.50. I could've argued that is a bit much for a side pasta dish, but I didn't because I ate it and my waitress, Lori, was so very pleasant!
To finish, I ordered another cup of soup to take with me, which I thoroughly enjoyed later in the evening!
So, nice atmosphere, wonderful friendly waitress, appealing and diverse menu. I'd say, Try Some, but skip the salmon if you like a moist fish.
