Don't miss this hidden but CASH-ONLY culinary gem!!!!!! A visit to the Timbers is like time-travelling, when credit cards didn't exist and top-tier restaurants served mainstays like Chicken Kiev, Onion Soup and Stuffed Oysters. This favorite haunt of the locals quietly sits at the end of a residential neighborhood street in Mount Gretna, so you may need Google Maps or a GPS to find it on your first visit. Upon arrival at the ground floor entrance, the restaurant and bar can only be reached by descending to the bottom of some stairs into an almost grotto-like setting, with a fireplace, and each table sporting a lamp for private lighting. The wait-staff are true professionals, and the cocktails are rat-pack strong. The food, which it turns out has been prepared here for eons by someone named "Rachel" keeps people coming back month after month. It's one of those places that would be ruined if they changed anything.

Attended there for the first time actually playing as The Billy Wray Duo (live music) for an event. Had a chance to taste their crab cakes and they were delicious. My drummer Jon had the sirloin and he said it was very tasteful. Beautiful settings in a wooded area with a lake nearby! I will be back!

Fortunately this place is a little out of the way or it would be over run and ruined. Great food from a CIA trained chef. Reasonable prices, friendly atmosphere, most people are from the area. Never had a bad experience.

Great place for a quick bite. Fast, friendly service, tasty food and very reasonably priced. It’s frequented by Army personnel so please take a minute and thank them for their service. Yes, even this Jarhead did.

We attended a Christmas party last night at the Timbers with our car club. There were almost 50 of us. Our food had been pre-ordered and paid for in advance. We have had our party there for several years and the atmosphere and food has always been good. They were still decorated for Christmas, which kept things festive for those of us who wait until after the holidays to have our parties. Service is always good for the most part, but maybe could use some improvement. The waitresses had a difficult time pairing the right meal to the right people. That's understandable with a large group. The food was good, but I feel my vegetables could have been warmer. On a positive note, this is a good place to go for parties or just for a nice dinner. The servers really try hard to please. It's in a scenic wooded area and it does have a bar.
