Stopped here for a quick Panini lunch. Figured it would be average "in gas station" food. I was very pleasantly surprised. The sandwich was fantastic! Had a ton of flavor and tasted fresh. The two women behind the cash registers were very friendly as well. My only complaint is, the driveway exits and entrances aren't clearly marked and I apparently took a wrong turn. But don't let that stop you. This place is a great stop for lunch!
Update update: Visited again. Not sure how this is mathematically possible but place seems to get better every time
Will report back upon investigating the LOADED CHICAGO further. I'm sure it is going to be amazing.
Update: I had a Hungry Boy. Supreme.
Literally perfect. Not like "oh haha hit the spot - perfect!". No. I mean technically flawless and (what I ordered) is a complicated & nuanced sandwich which needs to be prepared fresh and with a high degree of technique in order to hit properly. Daisy Hill's version of the Chopped Cheese that I had around 11:30a on Wed 7/13 prepared by Shawn (hope I spelled right!) is the exemplar of what the dish should be and that's just the tip of the iceberg in my experience today
I watched the line communicate; listened to the front end actually care about one another. Saw food running & bOH activity being carried out with safety, efficiency, and professionalism ongoing and at top of mind
This place is beyond a gem. It truly hurts my spirit && I wish I could speak w the negative reviewers individually - in traditional professionalism, grateful that ownership already has taken the time.
Pulling off this menu, to this degree of accuracy & quality, in these settings is - in my eyes - really not anything short of a miracle.
I love food right? But service is what usually makes me stop and actually leave my thoughts in review.
This restaurant (the greater business as well) is world class. If you don't see that it's not because the love, effort, and commitment by the staff aren't there. We're all human and working a thankless job under challenging conditions & being subject to constant scrutiny for years will change anyone.
From what I saw today? For the better. Iron sharpens iron and I am truly looking forward to returning to Daisy Hill. This is the kind of place I hope to bring my grandkids to someday and now joins Xico (review forthcoming), Aqui Es, Sushi Yasuda, that one roadside grill outside of Mexico City, and Jungsik as being core food memories I'll cherish for as long as I can
Thank you each truly. Stay blessed always
PS: Fam the coolers run (estimated) a degree cold and about two degrees below beverage minimum spec. It's like 86 out full sun
Do y'all have any idea how expensive this is to maintain? And how it literally adds 0 margin to packaged beverages bc they're bought wholesale?? Un-believable commitment to customer service is all I see when I look at that wall and a whole lot of experience and respect
One of the only places in the area that makes a chopped cheese. Always awesome when I’m missing the bodegas in New York.
Great experience every time from walking in the door and getting greeted to the kitchen staff . I’m not sure what the new kitchen manager is doing but the food has gotten 10 times better . Chef KB is putting out dynamite food and that overnight oatmeal that he is making is breathtaking. Very talented young man might I add looks like he’s moving the business in a great direction.
Daisy Hill cheesesteaks are fantastic, especially the Pepper Gravy steak…and don’t forget their fries…YUM!! My kids had chicken fingers and nothing was left, ha! They were super busy and yet, everyone was so pleasant. Don’t know about you, but customer service goes a long way for me!
