It is what it says it is. Basic food, cheap prices, and medium sized portions in a chain-restaurant atmosphere (sans bar or tv's). If you want to go out to eat with the family while having the restaurant atmosphere, you cant find a better place for the price (average $10-15 per person? ). Food has a hint of mainstream southern appeal (chicken n dumplings, country fried steaks, corn bread and biscuits, couple fish options and some daily basic sides/soups). You simply can't go to any other restaurant-style chain and eat for the same price without playing the coupon/promo/lunch-only/"I'll just have a salad and a diet coke" game.

Gift shop gets old after a couple visits but it's right there when you walk in for people that like to browse and... vacationers perhaps? The deco for sale is over-priced and mostly novelty. Just focus on the food and family-friendly atmosphere.

Don't expect anything "special", "fiery", "(insert seafood)-fest", "asian style", or any of the other marketing ideas other large chains routinely dish out on their menu. The food is simple in preparation and presentation. It's decent. And it's relatively cheap for dining out.

Bottom line: It's a safe and solid bet; shouldn't be disappointed with the food, portions or check.

A visit to Cracker Barrel is always worth it. The food is great and my spouse loves the small shop. Only reason I did not give it five stars is because I believe they need to upgrade their paying process. The are no clear lines when paying and there is always a gaggle of people from the shop mixed with people paying from eating. It’d be easier to pay from the table either through the wait staff or put the new computer ordering/paying screens at the table like Olive Garden and Red Robbin have. Much easier to cash out yourself at the table. Minimal people use cash these days.

Don’t expect the online wait list to help you at all -we checked in online there at 10:45am (no wait reported on app) but got to store about 20 min later and they put us on list right away but immediately took 3 other tables of 5-6 ahead of us!!!! So it took us almost 25 more minutes to get seated!

Sadly being crunched for time part of our party had to leave before our food came. Manager inept (haven’t ever seen him before) and didn’t offer anything. Had to get my husband’s and son’s food to go so we could get to event.

Staff tried to explain that the wait list online puts you at bottom of list until you get there and then supposedly based on the time you started in list once you get there it’s supposed to move you up???? Clearly it didn’t because at least 3 other tables of large parties if 5-6 were called BEFORE us.

This isn’t how it’s worked before even at this restaurant-so beware!!!! Don’t trust the online list to help you at all.

    Thankfully the waitress was kind.

We should have gone somewhere else. It’s sad cause we like this restaurant in the past. I guess you just have to go there when you’re not pressed for time because they can’t do anything quickly there. Rockers on the porch should have been my reminder.....lololo

Went for breakfast. Prompt, courteous service. Food was good. Biggest complaint is the music was so loud. I understand that corporate America has deemed music a necessary part of every dining experience, but it should be a background thing. Not so loud you can't have a conversation!
