To quote my wife, "Duck Donuts aren't donuts, they're an experience."
The staff are very friendly and quick. The donuts are served warm with a wide selection of glazes/frostings.
However, it is worth noting that their donuts are cake donuts, so if you are looking for a light, airy breakfast pastry you will not find that here.
STOP! DROP what your doing! And ROLL over to This place and get you a two piece Duck donut pack! Warm. Donuts. Made to order!!! Need I say more?!?! Go! Hurry before they close! Your welcome
I love this place. Really family friendly, great service, and the donuts are absolutely fantastic. I was a staunch fan of their maple bacon donut until I had the blueberry pancake donut this morning (at the suggestion of the awesome girl working at the register). They're pretty sweet which some folks have a problem with, but if you're like me and you have a sweet tooth, it'll definitely be worth the trip. Also, best cup of coffee I've had in months.
I got my coworkers a dozen yesterday and they were a hit!
Donuts are made fresh and lots of options. No real preservatives added so order what your going to eat that day or the next morning. Best fresh right after ordering while they are still warm. Location is always well run and doesn't take very long even being made fresh.
We popped in to Duck Donuts post brunch while visiting some friends in Philadelphia. I have to say I've never seen this concept before, and the idea that I got to make my own donut was a pretty sweet deal. That being said I feel like this type of business is more of a fad and kind of 'something fun to do'.
They have a list of already designed donuts if you aren't feeling too creative when you stop in. Otherwise you're free to make your own donuts with a choice of flavor, toppings, and drizzles. They do limit how many things you can put on it to not compromise the donut, so plan carefully. The fun part (in my opinion) is actually watching the donut get made. It's not a process that you usually get to see.
The donuts are served warm and need a minute to cool down. The donuts I had were pretty sickly sweet to be honest, but the flavor combination was nice. I imagine kids would enjoy going here but the line probably gets pretty long with everyone making decisions.
Going to Duck Donuts was fun while on vacation, but I don't think it'd be my normal donut stop if I lived in the area. Stop once, enjoy a perfectly acceptable donut, but only go back if you think it's worth the gimmick.
