Smokey Bandit Barbecue

We live within walking distance and occasionally walk past the American Legion and Smokey Bandit BBQ sign. Tonight, my husband said, "let's eat bbq tonight", and sent me the number to call in. Called in to order and was immediately greeted by Diane who was in process of putting the sweet potatoes in the oven. I hadn't even looked at a menu, but Diane was kind enough to walk me through all the delicious entrees for the night, even recommending a sampler. (We did decline on the sampler, though, since we just had chicken last night and didn't want it again today.) We committed to the bbq rib entree and the pulled pork entree that comes with 2 side each. We of course got the sweet potatoes and collard greens, and mac &cheese, baked beans, cole slaw, and the most delicious corn bread. Everything was so incredibly delicious. The food is absolutely amazing. My kids ate not only their portions, but a lot more. We have ordered from SBB a number of times, each and ever time it brings a smile to my family"s faces knowing we are eating from there that evening. Service is wonderful as well. Always greeted with a smile, (even behind a mask)

I have stayed away from bbq for a long time because it is hard to find really good quality in an independent restaurant. This stuff was AMAZING! The sides were amazingly tasty (especially the candied yams, cornbread, and mac n cheese!). The dry rub on the ribs was out of this world and I was really surprised by how awesome the catfish was! Fantastic service and food- not to mention supporting a small business. LOVE IT!

The ribs were awesome - dry-rubbed baby backs with sauce on the side. The meat was falling off the bones.

Pulled pork sandwich was great. Good-sized chunks of pork with the right amount of sauce. The pork was excellent.

All sides were great: collard greens were awesome, coleslaw was good, sweet potatoes/yams were excellent, fries were good, side salad had some nice veggies in it.

I look forward to trying the rest of the menu.
