A real hidden gem. Just off the end of the Philadelphia airport runway. Great history. Well preserved
Great place to walk around, beautiful historic buildings not found everywhere. Amazing views of the river. And the best place to watch Airplanes come in to the airport. The admission price surprise me but I didn't mind making the donation. Felt it was worth the $8
Self guided tour. The only Revolutionary Fort that's still in existence. Beautiful location and grounds. Right at the water. Probably great for picnics. Also close to airport and one can watch airplanes starting and landing right over your head. There is no restaurant or anything there. So come prepared.
Fantastic Location with a large array of areas to explore. Tour was well explained, and covered most of the area. Please give this more funding so it can better maintain it's facilities, the area is one of my favorite I've visited in a while, despite being slightly dirty in parts. Then again, it is Philly, so that's to be expected.
This under-appreciated revolutionary war era fort is a testament to the men who fought off the British coming up the Delaware river. The rooms under the earthen, sod covered walls convey a time of uncertainty and fear. That feeling is not lost when you enter these rooms today - they are very dark and damp. Stop in them, with the lights off and see if you can imagine what they went through - you'll appreciate it that much more.
