The charm and ambiance alone are enough to put Hungry Pigeon comfortably at 5 stars. Add top notch food--always fresh, thoughtful and creatively delicious--and exceptionally friendly staff, and my heart is won over. Have been several times, and every time was delightful. (It's small, so book in advance!)
Be sure to sign up for their emailing list or follow them on insta! They'll send out/post about special tasting menus that they are offering for a limited time. You'll then have to call and make a reservation and ask about that specific offer, as it needs to be booked in advanced and not asked for on location. We have done the Fried Chicken special and, more recently, their Seder Tasting menu. Both of which were amazing!
Amazing food! A real culinary treat. Go there. Your taste buds will thank you.
Had such a great night here. Fantastic food, great service, and wonderful ambiance. Had a business dinner with customers from Switzerland and they both commented several times how it was such a pleasant change from the usual American restaurant experience. The plates here are smaller (we still shared everything, so still had lots of food each, honestly) and the food is locally sourced, so only what is currently "in season". They raved about it! The Squid Spaghetti was so good we ordered a second!
I really want to like this place.
The service is usually pretty okay. The space has a bit of a cold feeling. The servers are all right but not exceptionally attentive. Their bread is amazing! The rest of the menu seems to be rotating and locally sourced which is wonderful. I haven't eaten here in a few months but the bread and tuna tartare were outstanding. I didn't come come back because the service was only okay. I come here for a glass of wine occasionally - as I did tonight when I wrote this review - and I am still unsurprised by the service. Everyone is pretty inattentive and cool. Asking for another glass of wine or the check takes a while, and is dependent on if they decide to finally look your way from where they congregate by the kitchen area. The place is fine but certainly not a first choice by any measure. Also this place gets very busy during weekend brunch so plan for a backup.
