People may think that a place as old as D.C. would be staid, worn out etc. NOT TRUE of this landmark on Frankford Ave. Place is pristenely clean, updated. Attractive & comfortable. Good variety of food. Serve alcohol till 11 pm. Restrooms are my barometer of any place. And, happy to report--' clean & safe. A bakery attached VERY popular. Great items for many occasions. Open 24 hrs/day. Visit anytime.
The food was excellent as always and service was good. This place is really popular and if you come on sunday you van expect to wait. But the line moves quickly and they are really worth the wait. They also are a full service bakery. I love their rye bread and pepperoni rolls (made with only flour, eggs, pepperoni, cheese, milk, yeast&salt) so just go there. You will not be disappointed
This was me and my wife's late night go-to place back in the early 90s when it was a 24 hr. diner. Try to go back as much as possible. Still has great food, really great desserts and coffee. On-site bakery. The best pound cake I have ever had. Breakfast is top-notch. Cash only. ATM on premises. Staff are friendly, down to earth nice northeast Philly folks. Love The Dining Car!
Great service with amazing servers. One or both of the owners are usually in dinner working just as hard as the rest of the staff making sure the place stays as wonderful as it always has been. Great portion sizes with daily and weekly specials that are sometimes new and often old favorites. This place has been the location of many great memories for myself as well as most of the people in the surrounding neighborhoods. It is always the best spot to go after a special event or late night meal on the weekends after going to the bars. They also have a small bar of their own if you want a beer or glass of wine with dinner or a bloody Mary or mimosa for Sunday brunch.
Great place to eat. Good food. Reasonable prices, good service. Homemade soups and desserts. Only takes cash but there is an ATM on the premises in the bakery area. Oh yeah, great bakery.
