So I grew up coming here with my mom and dad when I was a little girl. We would drive from Jersey and make the trip to south Philly. I finally took my kids to this iconic landmark. My kids loved it! The food and staff are still as great as they were 30 years ago. The cheese steaks are definitely still worth the trip!
Hands down the best Philly cheese steak I've ever had! I tried all three and the best was the cheese whiz. The meat was just so tender and juicy with great flavor. I also got the cheese fries which was the best cheese fries I've also ever had. There was a straight pool of cheese at the bottom and it was amazing! If you're just visiting Philadelphia, this is a must to try!
Passed through Philly and had to make the stop. Between Geno's and another competitor, we picked up a sandwich from each and split it up. I prefer the sliced steak with provolone over the competition. The cheese melded into the steak like fresh mozzarella on a quality pizza. But what makes the sandwich at both locations hard to pass up on is the bread. Thin crust and not too heavy. If you are traveling through, split the sandwich with your loved one and make your own decision. Definitely glad I did.
This steak joint knows steak. They also know cheese. Together they make a delicious meal with only one draw back. The bread. I will not apologize for not having the bite strength of a wild hyena. It's like rubber and I don't eat rubber. Get better bread and you'll get 5 stars, or I will bring my own. 4/5 stars.
