Guy’s Burger Joint

I've come here on two separate occasions. During the first, I had the full omakase dinner which was honestly one of the best omakase experiences I have ever had. It BLEW my mind-- it honestly gave some of the best establishments in NYC a run for their money. Every single course was impeccable and the sushi chefs were knowledgeable and very technically skilled.

My second experience was during Taste of Hartford. I came in with the same high expectations and hoped they'd be met. My first course was the rock shrimp, which was a disappointment since mine was soggy and cold as opposed to the crispy, fresh dish other customers have raved about. My second course was the NY Strip with fingerling potatoes and Chinese broccoli. It came out medium/close-to-well-done, even though I had ordered medium rare. The night was saved when my waitress noticed me inspecting the cook of my meat, and asked if I wanted it sent back to be done right. I applaud her attention to detail and I was very pleased with the service, as I would've probably left extremely disappointed over my meal otherwise. The night ended with warm chocolate bread pudding which was warm and gooey and not overwhelmingly sweet. Now, when the bill came, I noticed they charged me for the more expensive, 18oz steak even though I ordered the 12oz. I notified them of this and it was immediately taken care of, but it was a little disappointing especially following all the other mistakes.

Overall, I'd give this place a solid 4. Had the rock shrimp not been a soggy mess and my steak cooked properly the first time, I wouldve happily given them the 5. I give them huge props for their service though. My waitresses both occasions were wonderful. Definitely recommend checking this place out. It's so underrated and I hope more people recognize just how awesome it is to have a stellar omakase place in the heart of CT.
