Nom Wah Philadelphia

Went for dinner on a recent evening in Philly, and wanted to try the Dim Sum experience. Food was very good here. We had a group of 5, and we tried a wide range of items off the menu. Lots of options and flavors. The service was also good, and they kept the food coming. It's not much to look at as you walk by the place, but it's worth trying if you have not.

This place is closer to the convention center and not in the heart of Chinatown but the food is great. I like the coziness of the space plus they take credit cards. We ordered a bunch of dim sum dishes and enjoyed them all. Most importantly, my two girls did not get any allergy reaction since they have nut and seafood allergy. I would come back again and try more dishes.

Nom Wah was basically adjacent to my hotel so I had to give it a shot out of convenience if nothing else. This isn't your typical dim sum place where they roll around food in carts, but it's still pretty good. Beef and curry dumplings were really good, tasty and juicy. The chicken and cabbage dumplings were good, but not as good as the beef ones. The rice noodles were good, comparable to fix noodles at other dim sum places. The sesame balls with lotus root filling hit the spot, but something about them just wasn't as good as ones I've had in the past. Service was pretty quick. Can't really ask for much else. All in all, it's worth a try, the food is good, just nothing I'd go out of my way for.

Good. Polite and actually better service among most competition in Philly. Clean place with bar service.
Bad. Food is well below average and a lot worse if take NY metros as comparison.
Believe it is a lot of rooms for improvement.
Hope they don't waste the opportunity to be a part of proud Philly.
