Very nice musical evening last night, with good wine, good food, and good friends.

My wife and I stayed here over a weekend in early October and had a nice time. The hotel is historic but has been renovated and has many amenities but if you are used to the Marriott you'll find some things missing. There is plenty of parking in the back.

There are about 18 rooms on three floors. There is an elevator but we just took the stairs. Given the size of the hotel the staff tend to multitask and we did have to wait a bit at both check in and check out.

The room was nice (we had upgraded) but on the small side. More like NYC size than rural PA but there was room to move around. There was a small desk and chair as well as a soft chair and a bench for luggage. Coffee maker was in the closet with a refillable water bottle. If you needed anything the staff were good about running it up to you.

For instance it was a bit chilly and they brought up a space heater. The windows didn't seal very well so it was drafty but I like sleeping in a bit of a chill so I was OK but my wife likes it warm. Oh, they will bring you milk and cookies at night if you call and ask.

The bathroom is the star of the room and was large and beautifully decorated with marble everywhere.

There is a restaurant in the basement called Bar Loius; the food and service were great but the ambiance of the basement was a bit lacking. There is also a white tablecloth restaurant on the ground floor which we didn't try. It doubles as the breakfast room which is included. Servers were good but didn't really explain things so it was a bit confusing. Basically you can order certain items (or multiples) of some things included or pay a la cartel for others. They give you a bill and then you can opt to leave a tip etc. The food was good but portions were small so order more than one thing.

Overall we enjoyed our stay and the town. The staff were very good and the place is nice but pricey, especially if you upgrade to the higher floor corner rooms.

This lovely historical hotel offers a wonderful collection of paintings to admire and it's worth reading up on those before your visit. The staff is helpful and well prepared. Sadly, the kitchen has not maintained high standards, but in all fairness there's no competition locally. It would be difficult to compete with the hotel's legacy. There are some interesting, creative offerings, such as a sushi "pizza" that provides the otherwise heavy starter list with some welcome whimsy.

This is a great place to checkout when the weather is warm. Sit on the big porch and enjoy scenic Milford. The food is good though nothing fantastic. But the atmosphere really makes a meal here worth it. Milford is a great place to remind you that life is allowed to be friendly and relaxed. Where people say hello and smile. And there's definitely nothing at all wrong with that.
