Deer Head Inn

We love this spot to go to dinner. It is off the beaten path for us so the drive is very enjoyable especially on a nice spring/summer/fall day.

This is some of the best food I have ever had from any reasturant, I recommend going here with a date or something. Meals seem a little expensive but are worth every dime. The building is absolutely beautiful and the staff is amazing.

Had reservations on Oct 6th 2018 for dinner for party of 4. Everything was absolutely perfect. Our hostess apologized for an unexpected wave of diners, and stated that things might be a bit slow. They were not. All meals were terrific. Guys loved their prime ribs, perfectly cooked. My beef stroganoff was too yummy for words with the chef's experienced balance of onion, mushrooms, beef and noodles in a delicious gravy. I literally had to make myself stop eating it and brought the rest home. Our companion's "Mediterranean Shrimp" pasta was also divine. We will be back often and we all highly recommend this restaurant as a lovely and scrumptious place to eat.

Had reservations for Sat night, but didn't seem to need them as they had open seating. We were bit disappointed to see the remodeling that turned this formerly really cool unique intimate interior (the original restaurant was built in the 1930s),into more of a modern standard restaurant look and feel, but I can understand it from a practical standpoint. Service was a bit slow, and it took a little while to get drinks and apps. Here is the good part. The food was exceptional. They have apparently hired a young chef recently. This fellow knows what he is doing, and we were very pleasantly surprised at the level of sophisticated flavors and great dishes that came out. Better than much of what I've had in many big city restaurants. My one disappointment, as a vegetarian, is that not one entree, sandwich or soup option was meat free. I had to get a couple appetizers and salad as a meal. The apps however were fantastic. My meat eating dinner companions all raved about their meals. We would recommend and I wish them well!
