Today was my first visit here. I have heard a number of great things about this place, had a craving for some BBQ, and decided to give them a shot. I went to the downstairs window for takeout. The area was clean and looked to be pretty well kept. The guy who took my order was patient as I went over the menu and answered all of my questions. I ordered several items to try including the brisket. Now I have had to opportunity to travel all over the US and so have had BBQ in many different styles. I have to say they do a pretty good job here. The brisket was not overly fatty (you have to have some fat to really carry the flavors through) and not overly seasoned. They let the meat and smoke do its thing which always works. The smoke ring was a little shallow, but all in all it was good enough to flavor the meat. I also ordered their version of poutine...not bad, not great. I would order it again. The prices were good. A half pound of BBQ for $10 isnt bad in my opinion. I will definitely be back, and maybe next time to check out the brewery that is on the upper floor.

Only rating 3 stars for inconsistency. When it's good, it's really GOOD. But that doesn't happen every time (about every other bit who's counting?). It's kinda like food roulette - just hope you get lucky that day. And just to be clear - when it's not great, I don't mean that equals terrible. It's just that when you've had their food on a good day & love it, you expect that when you come back - that is what you're coming BACK FOR. These inconsistencies are the same across the board for food & wait staff alike. I've had some super awesome people as servers that are kind, patient, & tell you all about the sauces. And I've seen some servers be downright condescending to customers when it's really busy. Over the few years I've been going there, each time scratching my food lottery tickets hoping to find all cherries, I'd say I came out on top about half the time and had a great experience. Not bad odds if you're a betting man or woman. Take a chance, roll the dice, and may the odds be ever in your favor.

So, I should have made this review years ago since I've been here 50+ times, but yeah, this place is great. The taproom is fantastic, no better place to sample the beers and they usually have a different food menu. But, but the main attraction is the bar in the restaurant. Joy is a fantastic bartender. I've never had to wait for a drink and our food is always on time. According to some guy, she looks like Jean Grey from X Men Days of Futures Past, so, that's cool.

Anyways, the place is great, dont read the 1 star reviews about the stinky dumpster. It's a dumpster, come on.

Lauri, the manager, got the original cheese sauce back, so yeah, shes got it figured out.

    Susie is top notch too.

5 stars, been here 57 time, maybe 74.
