Had the best grilled cheese sandwich at their stand at the Neighborhood Flea in the Strip District! Crunchy French bread, gobs of cheese and Dill pickle relish. So simple, but so good! Will make a point to stop by if I am in Latrobe.
We were at The Pickled Chef. Excellent grilled cheese sandwiches, french fried pickles, fried green tomatoes. Yum
I am a connoisseur of grilled cheese sandwiches. They are my thing, and they rock my world. I can unequivocally say that The Pickled Chef has THE BEST grilled cheese sandwiches I have ever had. I doubt I'll ever have one better. I could eat here every...single...day. They also have fantastic deep fried pickles and a spectacular selection of homemade canned goods. If you are in the area, you'd be a fool to pass it by. You'd be missing grilled cheese gold standard.
Nice folks. You can purchase jars of their special pickled products made in house. They also had grass fed locally raised beef and local honey to buy. They have a dining area and a nice sandwich menu as well. You can substitute for a Gluten free wrap but I am not sure if they understand the cross contamination risks or take special precautions or not.
Stopped here while staying in the area visiting family. We were very surprised to find such an awesome restaurant in Latrobe. The grilled cheese sandwiches were cooked to perfection and the pickle fries were straight out of a county fair. The owners were very friendly and seem very passionate about their business, which shows through in their food. I highly recommend at least giving this place a chance if you love a good grilled cheese. We will be visiting again the next time we're back in Western Pa.
