I so wanted this to be great! Been waiting to try Lake Taco. They have been open for some time, so they have worked out the kinks and should be in their groove. Service was good, view is always great, now what about the food?
And, there was the let down...
It's okay. Sure, you have a lot of BBQ. A LOT. The server was really talking it up. But, your name is Lake TACO. This should be your signature dish. It's a far second to all of the BBQ. Every taco meal is 3 Tacos and no side. I asked of they could make a cheese quesadilla for a child's meal and it was really foreign to them. REALLY? They offer grilled cheese as a kids' meal? Shouldn't they have thought of this? It wasn't the best food, but we can always hope they improve that menu, or change direction and become a BBQ place. Hope your experience is better

We went on a Tuesday afternoon, we had the Nachos, a Buffalo Bill Chicken Sandwich and an Oak Burger. The Food was good, The Buffalo Chicken Sandwich was just the right level of heat for me. The service was good, and the food came out quickly. The prices are good.

The menu could use some tweaking: In my humble opinion.
The Nacho order was way to big for 2 people, I wish they had a smaller option.
The only bread available for the burger and chicken sandwich was Pretzel Bread.
I wish they had more Taco options.
They have pulled pork as an entree but no pulled pork sandwich.

Overall we had a good experience and will return another day.

This was our first outing to Lake Taco and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish! We were sat immediately even though it was peak dinner time. The drinks were amazing and reasonably priced. Our server Tori U was STELLAR! You can tell she really loves her job and is excited about the business. The passion she shared for the business and her love for interacting with customers is exceptional. We will 100% be back and have already recommended Lake Taco to our friends and family- and we haven’t even left our table yet!

Let's be clear, this place will be known for cheap but GREAT margaritas and simple TexMex foods! Can't beat the prices and portions, better than Applebee's or Chili's. Will be back for service, ambiance, and drinks!
We went around 5pm on a Thursday so it was pretty empty, by 6pm it was PACKED. Our server Jac C was fantastic. Super attentive, any feedback he took super seriously. Service didn't change at all between it being empty vs rush hour dinner. I've never encountered that before, GIVE THIS GUY A RAISE! He didn't look stressed at all even with rush hour service and a good chunk of tables to check on. Friendly, attentive, good banter, couldn't have asked for a better server. Would definitely be back for drinks and service with Jac alone!
My boyfriend and I rated everything like they do in Hell's Kitchen 😅 super critical, but here are our ratings: between different categories with the two of us, I think we came to 26/30 for rating!
Drinks- lemonade vodka (not on the menu, but my boyfriend is pretty particular, and this was still a solid 4/5 stars!) and house margarita (I'd give this 6/5 if I could-- good tall glass, $8 and using good tequila, couldn't ask for more! Jac even asked if I wanted salt or sugar on the rim, and I normally don't get asked the question often at bars and such, always just assumed I want salt, so I was glad to have the option.)
Service- our main server Jac C was fantastic, already mentioned how attentive he was. Seems like some other servers are still new, totally makes sense given how new the place is. Wouldn't let that affect your view on the place at all. They're learning, that's okay. Everyone is amazingly friendly and looked genuinely happy while working, which is awesome.
Ambiance- asthetic, general decor and lighting, bathrooms, etc., SUPER improvement from Morse Tavern. Looks so much better, bathrooms are clean and orderly, overall renovations are a huge improvement. Music was good. Can't wait to come here for a girl's night or just casual drinks!! Again can't rate the margaritas high enough.
Appetizer- dry rub buffalo wings, ours came out kind of salty and burnt. Clearly spent a bit extra time in the smoker, which makes sense trying to keep it warm while there's not a lot of people there for dinner. Could tell flavor was there, and when we saw other Buffalo wings go out of the kitchen later in the night they didn't look as burnt. Our waiter was super concerned when we mentioned they were a little burnt, but again the flavor was there so they still tasted okay, just a bad batch with probably a cook in training. 3/5 stars.
Entrees- pulled pork entrée with 2x sides of potato scoops and mustard BBQ and Tangy Texas BBQ (meat could use a little more flavor, and a little soggy given it's supposed to be from a smoker. No crispy sections which we thought was odd compared most barbecue places. GREAT sauces, and the potato scoops were salt/peppered perfectly and evenly crispy. Good portions. 4/5 stars) and San Antonio Tacos (a little disappointed with the seasoning, the lettuce could probably be tossed with the sauce and it'd be better, we both agreed the pulled pork is missing some kind of seasoning. Also surprised the tortilla wasn't crisped up to mix up the textures, most taco places don't give unheated tortillas. 3.5/5 stars, but could tell where they're trying to go with it)
Dessert- tried the Campire Espresso, was supposed to come with a Graham Cracker Rim, but perfectly okay it didn't! 6/5 stars if I could. My boyfriend and I dont normally like coffee but wanted to give it a try given 3/4 of the ingredients we knew we liked. FANTASTIC. This place will definitely be known for drinks! It's hard trying to get non-coffee people to like a coffee drink, and yet, they did just that!

What can I possibly say about LAKE FRICKIN' TACO that will truly do it justice? Most new restaurants take a hot minute to find their footing... not these guys! From the moment we sat down our awesome server Jac (hey management, DO NOT lose this guy) was attentive, fun, and informative. He checked in on us regularly, and was focused on ensuring that we enjoyed ourselves. The good news is, it wasn't hard to do exactly that!

The food was fantastic. I ordered the "Ham Taco", a menu item that exists solely because some Facebook trolls got all feisty when they thought that the sign for a Tex Mex join had a "ham" on it (guess they've never heard of carnitas). Management could have fired back, but instead they leaded in and figured, "Eh, we weren't planning on having ham on the menu, but we sure as hell will now!" Thus a taco featuring SPAM burn-ends was born... and my-oh-my is it good!

Of course, great Tex-Mex demands great drinks. Good news again dude! Lake Taco has you covered. We had a grapefruit / Gin drink called "Cool Water" and a few "Just Peachy" drinks made with Deep Eddy Peach, Lemon, and Tea (among other things).

Service was FAST FAST FAST too. We weren't seated five minutes and had some apps and bevvies in our hands. Even though it was a busy Saturday night, these guys delivered on the experience. The ambiance is lovely with some cool neon signs, texas/country music, and a lot of little BBQ oriented nick knacks around.

Bottom line: Do yourself a flavor and swing by sometime. If you like tacos, you like lakes, you like friendly dudes named Jac... well, you can't go wrong here.

    Highly Recommend!
