May River Grill

We were celebrating my birthday and so we decided to try May River Grill despite the prices. We had a 5:00 reservation and when we arrived, they sat us at a tiny two-top table right in the main pathway, even though 90% of the tables were available. We asked for another table and they obliged. We had Sangria - very good! The waitress was sweet and knowledgeable but needs some training on basic table maintenance. She was quick to clear the Sangria glasses even when we weren't finished, but then didn't clear used plates. We had to use our egg roll plates for bread plates. The egg roll was different, but good. It was $11.50. I ordered a chopped salad. It was 9.50 for a side salad, so I was really looking forward to it. The presentation was nice but sadly it was small, tasteless and really salty. My husband ordered the duck, which was crispy and moist but the sauce was more like a jelly and was overpowering. I had the stuffed shrimp, which was good. I loved the mashed potatoes and veggies were good, too. At the prices being charged, we should have top notch service, comfortable table, warm tasty bread and a salad that doesn't break the bank.

Ate here with a group of friends for a birthday party. Food was yummy and drinks were great! Seating area is a bit small so make reservations ahead.

Excellent food. I recommend a reservation. We had two people and managed to snag a table, but we were lucky. Dress varied, but our shorts and nice tees were a little underdressed. We had no idea, since it's a grill. Shorts and a polo/blouse would have been better. The staff didn't seem to care how we were dressed. ???? Priced higher than we expected, again the word "grill" derailed us. We'll go back!! Actually, can't wait!

Wow. The crispy flounder with brown butter texas Pete gravy was outstanding. Small place but great service. We have had two wonderful dinners here.

Great place to eat with family and friends. Food and service is fabulous. Have "closed the place" more than 3 times just enjoying the food, service and ambiance.
