Dave's Carry-Out

This place was awesome! My husband and I were determined to get some good seafood before leaving Charleston to go back home, and all I can say is…….Mission accomplished! The shrimp was crispy, well seasoned and fresh. The red rice had us licking our fingers, and the fried chicken wings were soooo good. The service was friendly and sweet. People were treated like family as they entered in. I heard people being called by their first names, and being asked “How’s your mom doing?” You can’t feel that kind of love everywhere. We will return very soon!

This plase serves take out soul food like my GRANDMA'S cooking. UM UMM GOOD.

Was super excited to try this place! We had missed it on our last trip to Charleston, so we purposely made the effort to be here on days Dave's was open this time. Got the fried scallop & shrimp dinner. $18.50, split it between two people. Shrimp and scallops were tasty, but seemed like not enough for the price. More fries than seafood. Had it been eaten by one person, rather than sharing, it would've been enough food, but still seems a little expensive. Overall, it was fun to watch the food being cooked, glad we tried it, but just wasn't as blown away as I expected to be after reading all the hype on this place.

This is everything I was looking for in quick but authentic place here in Charleston. There are no fancy tables or modern menus, get to what you need. I had the shrimp and scallops. They are fried in a light batter leading you straight to that fresh taste. Super fast service an a big portion. Don’t sleep on the red rice or the hot sauce. With all the fancy eating in this town, this is something not to be missed.

I have loved coming here for years. The food is so good. Southern hospitality!!
