Great place for breakfast on Isle of Palms. Food is delicious, service is excellent. Very cozy and comfortable place to eat. French toast and pancakes are excellent.
I was there for lunch today and although it was busy we had a wonderful experience. The cool clean atmosphere was refreshing and the food was great. My friend and I sat at the bar and Madison took great care of us. If you're hungry and stuck in beach traffic trying to leave the island The Refuge is a great option.
The drink special was excellent so I was really hoping the entree special would not disappoint. The fresh (and I do mean fresh) fish was the perfect culmination to my great experience on the Isle of Palms. The chef, Jason, also gives advice on wine selection. Jason, the bartender (he goes by Skittles ), gives great fishing advice so you can't go wrong.
This was our first visit to The Refuge. The restaurant has a fresh, modern look. The scene was lively. There was a musical duo performing live music. Our food was truly delicious, fresh, and well presented. We had lobster which was amazing. The service here was another highlight. John, our waiter was probably the best service we have ever had. He was attentive, and knowledgeable. The thing was though, he genuinely seemed to want to provide great experience. We will definitely be returning to The Refuge.
