The Royal Tern

Very well owned and ran! My relatives and family all were VERY Impressed with this restaurant. Our server was even there to let us out upon leaving. Food was unbelievably great!!! Should be a Five Star restaurant. The architecture was elegant, yet relaxing. Shaped like a barn but dressed with modern day elegancy.

Delicious and well-executed dishes in a beautiful space, minus the fluorescent lights in the open kitchen and ceiling tiles stolen from the local elementary school cafeteria. The only real disappointment at the table was the salmon entree, which could use a royal turnaround - bland, unevenly cooked and sitting on a bed of over-salted Brussels sprouts. But everything else was great, especially the mussels.

This is a wonderful restaurant. The food is delicious! Everything we had was delicious—the grilled flounder was as moist and fresh as could be. The service was terrific—Tracy was so attentive, but as I looked around, all the wait staff were equally attentive to the other tables. The owners were so accommodating and engaging, seeking at all times to make ours visit enjoyable. What a wonderful experience. We will return—-and often.

Loved it! We were visiting family and they wanted to try the Royal Tern. We were there on a Friday without reservations, though quite early at 5:00pm. They were gracious and seated us right away, and were attentive throughout the meal. The food was delicious, of course. Recommended.

First time here...definitely won't be the last! So glad to have another finer dining restaurant on Johns Island. Inviting an open layout. Food was delicious: from the Caesar Salad, to the Grilled Oysters, Mussels and Yellow Fin Tuna to the Roasted Brussels Sprouts. Our server, Alexis was totally knowledgeable and engaging adding to the overall great experience.
