Great BBQ and service. Had the pork plate with cheese fries and baked beans. Pork was smoky and juicy. Sides were not up to their usual standards, thus the 4 instead of 5 starts. Will skip the cheese in the fries next time.
This was my first southern BBQ experience 8 years ago, and it's my favorite today. The ribs are a must have, the BBQ is next, and fantastic with the vinegar-based sauce. I prefer battered onion rings over panko and theirs are well battered. Beans and greens, also great sides. Good portions, very fair prices, and a friendly staff.
I ordered the chicken fillet and shared chili, cheese fries for lunch. The sandwich was great and the fries were good but they should try a different cheese. It was waxy looking and the flavor wasn't very good. It helped stirring the chili and cheese together which helped mask the flavor.
Excellent as always. Best ribs... and they still get better with each visit. Kids will be there soon! (They are playing the "we're married now and poor" line). Been there; done that!????
Great staff, and good BBQ in general. However, the star of the show (ribs) is inconsistent at times.
I decided to visit a few times before writing this review. My last several visits found the side items hot, fresh and delicious. The fried okra is just like grandma used to make. The mac & cheese was super cheesy and creamy. The french fries, unfortunately, taste fresh from the freezer. When dining at a BBQ spot I expect everything from scratch. I can get frozen fries from Burger King.
Now on to the meats, the BBQ chicken breast is masterfully seasoned and lightly sauced. I haven't experienced a time when the chicken wasn't sheer perfection. As such this is my typical go-to selection. However, on occasion when ordering the ribs I've found the experience to be hit or miss. A few times the ribs were meaty, steaming hot, smoky perfection. On other occasions, they were lackluster, under-smoked, and bare-boned. This is a clear case of the wrong Pit Master on deck. In the future, I recommend all smokers attend the same Pit Master clinic.
