Rootimentary

A unique dining experience positioned right in the historic downtown Laurens square. My husband and I seek out restaurants that offer an array of food items for our unique palates and Rootimentary left nothing for us to desire after our visit. We sampled many of the unique cocktails, the shared dishes (Brussels and mushroom risotto) were to die for, the Tomahawk steak literally melted in our mouth like butter and we finished the night with a crème brûlée and molten lava cake both were phenomenal. The price point for the caliber of food offered and you can’t find anywhere else was on point! If you’re close by or even if you’re not you HAVE to add a meal from Rootimentary to your bucket list as a must do! For me it will be many times over!

Incredible atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious menu. The menu has a range with something for everyone, even kids (kids menu with a few sensible options with great portion size). I love the options from starts to steaks, with prices to match. I love that there is somewhere in Laurens to celebrate a special occasion so close to home, or grab a fresh local salad on a night I need to get out of the house. The curated drink menu is to die for! They are delicious and have quirky, on brand names that make you want to try more than just one. The menu is extremely smart, and changes to fit their freshest selection. I have been twice, having an entree (braised short ribs which melted in my mouth,) and the second time a ribeye steak with added herb compound butter and choice of side. Both options were great portion sizes and well worth the price. In my opinion, the entrees are super reasonably priced for the caliber of food that is being served. It’s a new type of place for Laurens, but they are clearly filling the large gap of what was needed here. You sit at the bar and get a drink or two, or have a sit down three course meal with family. Five stars.

We visited for a Christmas party. Atmosphere was pleasant, however... wait time for the food is left to be desired. Our server I must commend. She had the merchant system go down during our checks and she was extremely professional and apologetic! Another guest had to eat after everyone else on our party had already received their meal and finished. Then had to wait again for our dessert. Finally asked someone where it was. Another guest ordered a loaded baked potato and received a potato with bacon. We sent it back and it came back with cheese????!!! They literally just threw cheese on it! We are awaiting our checks and they are so behind, they started clearing our tables to get ready for the next. Very disappointed. I know they are newly opened, so I am open to another visit. But first impressions....

I ordered the 14 oz ribeye steak. I also had mushrooms added. The steak was like fireworks going off in my mouth and I never touched the mushrooms out of fear they would destroy the flavor of the steak. Unbelievable!!!! Highly recommend!!!!

My husband and I were passing through town when we happened upon this restaurant on opening night! How lucky were we!?! Amazing food. Great wine, beer and cocktail options, beautiful decor, stunning and clean bathrooms and the food was something you’d expect from a big city! What a gem this restaurant is to this town and its residents and passersby’s. So grateful we got to experience this amazing cuisine and hope we can make it by one more time before we head out of the area! 5stars for sure ❤️
