Pedro's just opened right around the corner from San Jose, inside of an old bar. I assumed that it would distinguish itself in some way, but it did not.
This is casual Americanized Mexican food. You can get your usual assortment of refried beans, beef, chicken or steak, inside or on top of your usual assortment of enchiladas, tostadas, burritos, or salads. The taste was par for normal chain Mexican food. Not bad at all, just nothing to write home about. The chips did taste very freshly made, as did the guacamole.
The service here was good. We were checked on by a few different people outside of our waiter, which was a nice touch to make it apparent they want you to have a good experience. Food came out quickly and our drinks were full the entire time.
Overall, it's not bad at all, just could do with some personality to separate them from their neighbors.
