We planned our black hills trip around the hours of restaurants, this lovely place opened in April and came highly recommended. It did not disappoint! The atmosphere is friendly, welcoming and lovely! Elevated dishes with surprising flavors that make you want to keep eating long after your full! The Bellini flight was AMAZING and a fun experience. Delicious coffee and great wine menu. Staff and owners were wonderful and friendly! Will definitely be back!
HJem A.M. was such a unique and unexpected experience in Custer, SD. We decided we needed to try it because we dined at their sister restaurant, Skogen Kitchen and we’re blown away. We are happy we made time to visit HJem as well. We started with the deviled eggs, I could not believe the amount of different flavors that existed in one bite. If you like smoked salmon they are a must try. My husband had the French toast and he enjoyed it. It was a very rich dish with a solid mixture of savory and sweet. I had the chicken and waffles and they were awesome. The dish is a huge portion, I probably ate 1/4 of it. Definitely a dish to share, and one I would order again. The main reason I am not giving this place five stars is it seemed odd to me that they have such elevated brunch dishes culinary wise, but they don’t offer espresso, lattes, etc. Must visit if in Custer!
While on vacation, we had a list of different restaurants to try. For brunch we didn't make it any further than Hjem! We both loved it so much that we had to come back the next day, and thankfully there was a spot open! My wife loved the Japanese French Toast so much she ordered it both days. I tried the Eggs Benedict and the Morning Walleye. Both were amazing. On top of the food being so good, the staff and owner made you feel at home and were very welcoming and kind. The atmosphere was great too! If you ever are planning to visit Custer, do yourself a favor and make a reservation for brunch!!
SO impressed!! We were on vacation from the twin cities and wanted to find the best food around. This spot was recommended by a local guy we met who said it was the best breakfast in the Black Hills, so we wanted to give it a shot. We are SO glad we did because not only is it the best breakfast in the Black Hills, it is probably the best breakfast I have ever had. The food was absolutely incredible and the service was amazing. Our waitress Natasha was very genuinely kind and super attentive. The food was AMAZING and presented in such a lovely way. I honestly can’t believe there is such an amazing breakfast spot in Custer. I wish there was a location in MN. Highly recommend!!
This was SUCH a gem! Such a wonderful take on flavors - our experience was truly flawless. Service was impeccable and the food was amazing. We definitely would recommend to anyone within 100 mile radius.
