Hillbilly's Smoky Mountain Diner & BBQ

A new restaurant for Newport opens its doors to a flood of flavor with great homestyle cooking. Besides a mountain of burger and pulled pork/beef sandwiches, Hillbilly BBQ has all you can eat buffet choices. We arrived on Ribs night and my dining companions were delighted with the flavorful, meaty, tenderness of the plentiful ribs. I, not being a rib eater chose the smoked chicken option and was amazed that it too was available as all you can eat even though it was not on the buffet line.
As for the buffet itself, the sides are homemade, country good. The mashed potatoes are real, not instant, and the carrots and creamed corn are are like grandma used to make. Collards, green beans and cobblers too. Many other hot options plus a salad bar with all the fixing, and a fruit bar that is fresh and inviting.
Last but not least is the staff. Lovely people who are quick with a smile and sweet as can be orienting us as first timers to all the options available. This is a family operation that is deserving of try. We'll be back soon and I bet you will too.

This place is a hidden gem. The owner did competition BBQ in Texas for. My daughter had the brisket. And I had the smoked wings. Both were excellent. The brisket was outstanding. What really sets this place apart however are the side bars both hot and cold and a great selection of complementary fruit. We will definitely make our back.

If yall ain’t ever been to hillbilly’s Smoky mountain bbq in Newport literally run there!!! This is the sampler platter & you get the unlimited vegetable buffet bar and dessert for 3 people and 3 drinks it was only $52.61!!!!!!! We all brought home a Togo box completely full!!! This is hands down the best bbq I’ve had. The leftovers we will be eating on for days! Service was absolutely amazing!! When told we had never been there the owner put a piece of brisket on a plate and sat it on the counter for us to try. These people go above and beyond in making you feel like family. This is the best restaurant experience I’ve ever had my entire life.

Dont drive by too quickly or you may not see them down the hill! I have gone a couple times now and it is delicious. Nothing else in the area can compete. Quality food at a great price with lots of laughs the entire time you are there. Owner and employees are awesome… Also the pictures will speak for themselves when I tell you the large… is actually a LARGE.
