The Mercantile Cafe / Sweet Simplicity Bakery

Passing through and decided to stop for lunch. The food was great and the bakery was awesome. The prices were reasonable but what I liked best was the friendly staff. As soon as they knew it was our 1st time, they went out of their way to help us along in ordering and picking out desserts from their wonderful assortment. Great food and great people!

Was a neat decorative place to just look at all the stuff they have hanging up, sitting around & can even buy. Not to mention the food was delicious. Several choices to choose from as well w/reasonable prices.. all employees were very nice & made us feel at home welcomed!!! Highly recommend !!

Renee and her staff are awesome. Great food, amazing desserts, and some cool local goods such as jewelry that you can purchase while you're there and support local artisans.

Small town meat n three (or meat n two) plus many other choices. Great food, congenial & friendly atmosphere, small gift shop area, and right on town square. Was my second time to go there. Love it!

Traveling home and did a quick Google search at the right time as we were approaching Manchester, TN. We stopped for lunch at The Merchantile Cafe / Sweet Simplicity Bakery. Thie food would be considered Southern food. My wife and I had salmon patties - Good! Between the two of us we also had fried squash, cream corn, green beans, collards, and cornbread. All of this was good. I got banana pudding for a desert. It was REALLY HOMEMADE and DELICIOUS! Besides my banana pudding; this was the best I've ever had at a restaurant . They had several deserts to choose from; all homemade. Then on the way out there is a counter with more sweet foods to choose from - yep we left we more!
