Strawberry Shake! Yes you can get strawberry 🍓 ice cream at Bruster’s. I very rarely find it at Jeni’s. Thanks Bruster’s!!!

We’re not from the area so Bruster’s was new to us. It was overall fantastic.

The employee who served us at 4:30 on a Wednesday was pleasant and helpful in understanding all the flavors and menu.

We benefitted from a Wednesday special for $1 off a medium waffle cone, three scoops, which we utilized to try three different flavors. The portion was extremely generous, not a given with premium ice cream these days.

I tried the Nestle Crunch, which was what you would expect if you like NC, and very good.

Mint chocolate chip is my go-to flavor and I’m pretty picky. I prefer the a white/blue peppermint flavor (think Breyer’s or Ben & Jerry’s). But Bruster’s goes with a wintergreen. If you like that flavor, this is for you. I don’t so much. (It’s the difference between peppomint and wintergreen breath savers).

But the last flavor will have me coming back. The Graham Central Station was absolutely fantastic.

Kids ordered a small cup with a huge dinosaur cookie in it. Loved it.

Son got a shake and loved it as well.

If we lived in the area, we’d return often. Recommended.

Stopped by with my siblings for an after school snack, I got the cheesecake ice cream and they got cookies and cream. They have such great fresh flavor to them, you can taste it’s homemade. We got the small cups and they still had a good amount to it.

I have to say the first time we went it was so bad my kids wouldn’t eat it. We decided to give it a second chance and since then it has been consistently good. Seating is limited inside but there are a few tables outside. Half price banana splits on Thursday if you bring your own banana is a good deal.

The fact we passed 3 snowplows salting the roads in the middle of snow flurries to get to this ice cream shop before they closed at 9 should probably clue you in on how this review is going to go.

Bruster's has been a go-to place for family after- (or sometimes before-) meal treats for quite some time. Our experience with this chain has spanned well past a decade, comparing very favorably with local favorites (such as Fenton's in the Bay area) and more upscale offerings such as Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream.

Some of our favorite memories have been formed at sweet treat places such as these either when Laura and I were a young couple or with our kids in tow. The locations down in Memphis TN were so generous with their offerings that we wondered how they could stay in business... not too long afterwards, this theory sadly proved to be the case when both locations closed down. We still laugh at the time that an obviously brand new trainee at the Mall of GA location insisted the "Gobstopper"-sized scoop was indeed correct because that was the size of the ice cream scoop she was handling very delicately.

Favorites? The Cherry Vanilla is absolutely delicious. Interesting fact... we learned the cherries need to be hand-placed into the ice cream mash (in order to not break apart while mixing) so batches made by the managers or veterans are chock full of those goodies whiles those mixed by newbies were not much more than vanilla ice cream with a handful of cherries (once had an entire waffle cone with just one). A new discovery tonight - Espresso Yourself. The intense coffee taste resulted from use of locally sourced coffee beans roasted just down the road from this (Brentwood TN) location. We were warned by the manager though that this might keep you up at night if consumed too late in the evening... we'll find out soon enough.

There's always a good variety of flavors so you'll be hard-pressed not to find something you'll love either for the first time or for old time's sake. Give them a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed!
