Jack Cawthon's Bar-B-Que

We have tried brisket and ribs from all over the country, Jack's is pretty darn good. The brisket was most and good flavor. Had a good tasting bark. After dipping the ribs in Jack's Kansas City bbq sauce, out of this world. A must have...baked apples. They were delicious, soft, and just enough cinnamon. Encourage stopping by if you are in the mid-town area of Nashville.

Self service restaurant rivals any sit down restaurant. Staff was helpful and friendly. The decor upscale country with a little camp. RIBS,PORK and sides were all delicious. No complaints. Good pricing. Highly recommend.

We love Jack's as a Nashville institution. We've had some issues with consistent food, sadly. This time around, it was dry brisket. Another time, it was dry ribs, etc. This is why four stars rather than five.
(Edit to add: I realize this comes across as negative for a four-star review. Let me clarify - overall, the food is DELICIOUS and we always want to take our out-of-town visitors to Jack's. We've never had a time where everything across the board was disappointing. Usually, it's that, "Everything was excellent except ...")
The Charlotte Ave. location seems to do better than the Broadway location, which is a bummer because we do love the Broadway location. (They were the first place I ever had good ribs.). Still, it's a must-try BBQ place with its own unique identity.

Visiting Nashville, Jack's was close to our hotel. Looking for a dinner meal and something local, we decided to give this place a try. The reviews are very high, and we see that Mr. Jack himself replied to many of the reviews, regardless of the rating given. That in itself, gives me the feeling that the owner cares about his establishment and is listening to his customers. We had a 3-meat meal with 2 sides. Beef brisket was tender and FULL of flavor! We doubled up on it! The ribs were great too! They have vinegar, tomato AND mustard based sauces, too! We will recommend Jack's to anyone visiting the Nashville area!
