Mariscos el capitan

First of all we were a little taken back. Thought we were walking into Casa Country but without any notification (apparently there’s a small banner hanging outside we missed) it has changed hands. Let me just say that first of all the service was good and the food was pretty good also. However not as good as the price it brought on. You know like the margs were easily a $3-5 margarita but they were $8, (this is still Madison yo, haha) a small bowl of queso was $8. It’s also is NOT a traditional Mexican restaurant it’s a seafood Mexican restaurant, the whole menu is in Spanish which put me at a disadvantage but no big deal there.
So here. Final word is the vibe inside is odd, the decor looks like it’s straight outta Hobby Lobby, the food is actually good, but not as good as they’re charging. My wife and I each had a Marg, I had a $13 chicken quesadilla, my wife had a single $8 taco, and my son a shrimp pasta meal for $19 (I think) and we had one very small bowl of ok queso and our ticket was like $65 and we had a table with friends so they auto charged a 20% tip which bothers me. I typically tip 25-30% except when it’s forced on me. The place is fine just way too expensive for what it is.

90% of the menu is in Spanish only. Only Tex-Mex section in English so ordering seafood will be difficult if you don’t speak Spanish. The live music was nice but it was so loud you couldn’t even hear yourself think. Like rock concert loud. The food was good, service was ok. Salsa was eh. $18 for a small guacamole, queso and salsa (the same salsa you already got for free) is pretty ridiculous
