Great value. Friendly service. Unique place with lots of old fashioned decor. They have a buffet or cafeteria to choose from. Also, an ice cream parlor (but no ice cream on the buffet).
Great southern food buffet! Got there about 2 PM on a Friday afternoon, our first visit. Parking lot was packed but we were able to get a seat in the restaurant without waiting. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. Had a great meal from the buffet and then browsed the other areas of the store - fudge bar, ice cream bar, cafe (yes, there is a cafe in addition to the restaurant), and finally the store. Really get the old country general store feel while you're here. We're going to be in town for a couple days and will surely go back for more.
3 stars because it ain't what it used to be for sure. We had breakfast buffet on Thursday morning. After tasting all of the breakfast meats, the ham was the only one worth eating. Most of the food tastes like it came straight out of a package or frozen from sysc.
We had lunch buffet on Friday and most of the food seemed better. However I think it's terrible to serve instant potatoes and prepackaged gravy.
I expected better from what used to be our favorite place to eat. Service was very good.
Great down-home cooking, and a variety of everything you could be looking for! The food is delicious and prepared southern style, just so good! The store itself is a walk down memory lane! So full of nostalgia, as well as modern day items. So worth the visit, and I would definitely recommend this stop over to tourists passing through. It is a very popular restaurant to locals as well.
If you are a vegetarian that is willing to eat vegetables made with animal products/eat around the meat, you will have plenty of options! I got two, full unique plates of food. Three different types of beans, two different kinds of dark green, and a host of vegetables including a cold salad bar. However if you can't have your food made with bacon/butter/ham etc you won't find a whole lot.
