Bonchon Smyrna - W Sam Ridley Pkwy

Stopped in Smyrna today to give Bonchon Korean Fried Chicken a try. I love Korean delicacies…especially Korean Fried Chicken. My server was Rachel and she is an absolute sweetheart. She took the time to give me an overview of the menu, what she liked, and we also talked about the Murfreesboro location. I decided on the lunch special of Five Chicken Strips (2 plain/no sauce and 3 Soy Garlic), a side of Wasabi/Ranch dipping sauce, and Pickled Radishes as a side. All of this plus a fountain beverage for $11.95 wasn’t a bad deal. My order was To Go and came out faster than I could fill my soda cup.

I wanted to try some plain without any of the brushed on sauces and do some dipping. The Wasabi/Ranch sauce is good, mild, no real spice or heat. I also dipped in Blue Cheese and Ranch and liked those better. The Soy Garlic was delicious and had good flavor, no heat. I must admit…the pickled radishes are very “pungent” BUT are so darn good. I’ve never had Stubborn Soda before…the Root Beer is really good and reminded me of old school A&W Root Beer. Overall good chicken, nice flavor, and the service from Rachel was 5-Stars!

The food was good, but too much miscommunication between the people who take the orders and the kitchen. We ordered our food and was told it would be brought to our table. After waiting for 40 mins we walked up and asked for our food, only to find out that they lost our order and it never made it to the kitchen. We had to wait another 15 mins to get our food. The food taste good. We had chicken drums 50/50, corn, fries and bulgogi fried rice. They need to work on the service.

Food is delicious BUT portion size and prices feel off. I felt pressured to order quickly although it was my first time there and I had no idea what was on the menu. It's quite pricey which maybe if I was offered real utensils, it would have felt more like a expensive meal. Also the fact that they ask for a tip! Why? When there is no table service, people are getting tip weary. I walk to a counter, placed my order, made my own drink, got my own plastic utensils and paper napkins. Why would I tip? Especially when the food is so pricey to begin with.

Customer service was amazing. Every person we spoke to was very helpful and patient as we asked question about the menu.

My boyfriend and I ordered the pork potstickers, the tacos with sesame soy chicken and a tenders meal.

Everything was delicious. The food is made to order. We had 1 person before us and waited 15 minutes for the food. They also carry Pepsi products, which makes me happy. This is easily a new favorite for us. I can’t wait to go back and try more items on the menu.

The only disappointment is they do not offer all the items on the full Bonchon menu at this location.

I'm super excited to have Bonchon in Tennessee! Went to the Smyrna location on their first day of opening and man was it busy! The staff were super friendly and did their best given how many customers were there at the time. We came during the lunch rush and had to wait ~30 minutes to get our food. Since it was pretty busy it was hard to hear them call out my name for my order.

The food was delicious. The soy garlic flavor is just as good as the other Bonchon locations I've been to. The spicy could be spicier but I also have a higher spice tolerance than normal. This location offers a good variety of sides. We got the Korean street corn and the seasoned fries. The Korean street corn was very good and the fries were alright (could use more salt).

I look forward to ordering from Bonchon Smyrna in the future! Would love to try more of the offerings like their chicken sandwich. Please note that the Bonchon just opened so expect longer waits than usual and be kind to the staff! They're trying their best and they are making delicious food!
