I consider Gatlinburg as a home and have stayed in locations downtown. The food is great and I enjoyed walking into the stores. I look forward coming home!
Beautiful place to see. And lots of little shop to go to
Liked the activities and campy attractions but DO NOT come unless you are prepared to walk your butt off...we explored a lot of the strip and my watch measured me walking over 10k steps a day/5 miles a day. That plus 88 degree+ weather and uncomfy shoes and fast walking long legged travel party...unfun.
Really nice area. Lots of different types of shops and restaurants. Not sure if you'd love it as a local, but for tourists it's a nice place to go to. There are fast food options as well as really fancy restaurants, and you can walk until you get to a retro or vintage stuff store, candy/ice cream parlor, tee shirt shop, Christian book store, café, or even a kind of adventure park with a ropes course, laser tag, bumper cars, and mini golf. Really nice area to spend a while. The only frustrating thing is parking. If you only need to park for a little while (like to go to one of the fast food places or something), you will likely still end up paying a pretty penny for parking. Also, the places to park your car aren't fancy even though they're expensive, and I found myself glad I was there with my husband. Paying a good bit to park in an alley behind some buildings weirds me out a tad, though it was always fine. That's the only complaint though! Great place to visit on vacation.
