I loved this place from the start! Perfect place to play board games with friends, eat some good food and have a beer at a large table! The staff is also excellent! My group has gaming tables of their own along with myself but we like it so much we go downtown to play weekly. I've even made new friends to play board games with which is always a plus. Sadly I feel like this board game pub is doing a COMPLETE 180, pretty much anything regarding table top hobbies has been or will be moved upstairs. The restaurant is taking over and it appears that they are adding more "bar like" activities for a bar than a board gaming pub. To me it just kind of feels like a low blow to have been supporting Mulligans while there is NO restaurant or NO bar then when the restaurant and bar open we are ushered upstairs like we are getting pushed off to the side. I get you all want the restaurant to thrive but it's almost two completely different entities now...I really hope this review speaks to the owners but who knows.
Excellent food! We had the fish & chips - a huge portion of delicious fried fish, plank style fries. Wish we would have had time to sit & game, but I did buy some d&d supplies. Very welcoming.
Great to have an Irish pub here!!! The shepherd's pie is made with lamb and I really enjoyed it! Keith and Sean came by and introduced themselves on an obviously busy and challenging night. Really appreciated Danielles service.
Mulligan's Pub is a delight. I tend to avoid bars and pubs because they are dark and loud but this space is large and well-lit. The ambient noise was at a good level for conversation and game play.
It's hard to say what was better: the food or the drinks. My friends had fish and chips and shepherd's pie and I shared scones and soda bread with another. The bread is baked in house and you can tell. It's amazing. It comes with honey butter which was excellent. The drinks were very strong and mixed really well. I had Irish coffee with homemade cream and it was delightful; great paired with the bread and butter.
There's a huge selection of board games to play, everything from very in depth strategy games to more accessible games for beginners. We played a game called Lemming Mafia and I had a lot of fun even though I'm not much of a gamer.
The owners are VERY friendly and chatty (maybe too chatty for this introvert) and are obviously invested in making sure folks have a good time. We had a great time and will definitely be back.
This place is wonderful. I can’t say enough good things about the owners and the people who work here. If you’re looking for MTG, board games, or Dungeons & Dragons this is the place.
Recently (June/July 2022) the pub portion of the business opened. I have been looking forward to it for almost a year and it did not disappoint. The special of the day was delicious as were the scotch eggs. I can’t wait to go back and try everything else on the menu.
