The best evening out we’ve experienced in years! Loved the atmosphere and the food was amazing. Service was right on time and the staff was soo sweet and accommodating to our special needs . We will definitely be back and soon!
Best BBQ sandwich I've had in a while. I thought my side of Gouda Mac and cheese was alright. The beans were much better. I really enjoyed the live music. It was a one man band doing covers but the guy doing it was a blast and we had a really good time.
Had lunch there today and it was awesome. Ben (the owner) and Blake (the server) could not have been more accommodating, including biscuits for our dog. You have got to try the brisket/mac and cheese wrap!
My husband and I moved to Jonesborough from Wisconsin back in March and the Barrel House was one of the first places downtown that we visited. We fell in love with the place itself and the owner gave us a tour, explaining the history and also showing us the courtyard and telling us of his plans to have live music and dinner out there as soon as the weather was better and preparations were complete. That has since happened and the accommodations out there are wonderful!
He also explained to us how weddings have been held there for more than 100 years and the things that make the place most special.
We came back a couple days later for a first meal there and my husband who is vegan was pleasantly surprised that he could get a variety of side salads that suited his special diet. He thought all of them were excellent. Each time we have been there I have had a variation of the hamburger or the brisket sandwich. I have always enjoyed the sandwich.
The wait staff is always friendly and helpful and if there is a hold up on the food, they are quick to tell us and keep us apprised of when it will be coming. Normally the food is prepared quickly and served warm and fresh. On Thursday nights when there is music in the courtyard, if the crowd is larger the food might take longer but we never mind because we are busy visiting with friends and listening to the music.
We have taken three different groups of people to the Barrel House for Thursday night music and dinner and all have enjoyed themselves. There has never been a cover charge but we are always sure to leave a good tip for the performers as they work hard for it.
My husband and I feel it is important to support local businesses but we would return to the Barrel House anyway, just because they are so friendly and try hard to please.
