Pei Wei

I would have rated this place higher a few months ago but I am dissatisfied with recent changes to their menu.

I loved their Vietnamese Chicken Salad Rolls. A light, fresh flavored chicken and salad mix in a rice wrapper, served with peanut and Thai chili sauces. I absolutely love the peanut sauce. They've removed this item and replaced it with Vietnamese Lettuce Wraps, which despite the similar name, taste very different from the rolls and are difficult to eat. You build the wraps yourself from what appears to be a tangy, Asian coleslaw, iceberg lettuce and the sauces. The "coleslaw" is tangy, and unpleasant to someone yearning for the previous menu item. Also, this appetizer is over $7 whereas the rolls were available in two or four (IIRC) roll orders, making purchase by one person possible. I never saw Pei Wei as exceptional in sushi, but their Spicy Tuna roll was ok, when I was already eating there. Again, they used to sell half rolls (4pcs) or full (8pcs) making it a good add on to my entree. Now I will not order sushi there again.

I didn't order an entree today, but I like their Sesame Chicken bowl very much.

I don't live near Pei Wei, but I used to drive 15 miles out of my way to visit this location, specifically for Vietnamese Chicken Salad Rolls. I will not be doing that anymore unless they restore the old menu items.

The service here was almost always very good and today I was comp'd the lettuce rolls after discovering they had changed. I was pleased they asked me if I liked the new item. We discussed the old and new, then I went back and ordered the sushi. Thank you to the ladies who helped me, even though I was disappointed in the changes.

Good location, very nice employees as well. Tasty food and great menu options. Conveniently located in a great Brentwood shopping center
