Due to the wait, not only was I not charged for the meal, they also added a desert! I look forward to another visit to Applebee's. Not for the much appreciated freebie, I am actually looking forward to taking some friends and trying out some of the other choices I saw on their extensive menu. We were so glad we listened to her! Our server Ishmael was among one of the best servers we have ever had! So attentive, efficient and personable! “We went in and got the to go boxes. We also went during business rush hour, because it is a buffet and the freshest food is always when they are busiest. THE FOOD WAS AMAZING!! Just in the short time it took us to completely load up four to go boxes...we saw over 15 new trays of food brought out to replace the ones already on the buffet. Even with the drive back home, the food was hot, fresh and absolutely delicious! And the value was great! We fed a family of 7 .. with teenagers ... with those 4 boxes, and I think they were about 11 bucks a box. We cant get Mcdonalds for that price!!”

“Our first couple of visits we did have to wait 20 minutes or so for 2 meals but they were extremely busy and the staff was working hard. We did get to enjoy fresh & hot food when we got it so we were pleased. Bathrooms always clean. Staff always friendly. The dining area does not seem to get the attention needed some of the time but usually when they are the busiest it seems. My visit today was very quick for 2 meals and 20 nuggets but my food was warm at best. Room for some improvment.”

“I had this big, long review in my head lambasting the sauce (BBQ flavored marinara??) and mentioning how the ribs were a little less tender than I would have liked. However, the food was, all-in-all pretty good and did eat every speck of it after all, so.. There were two shining examples of excellence that came out of Shep's. First was the excellent service and attitude toward customers. There is a process for placing an order at Shep's. You line up at one end and move down the line to different spots as you go until you get to the register. It's somewhat reminiscent of the soup Nazi (a la Seinfeld) with the one glaring exception that if you're not a local and screw up the system, no one yells "no BBQ for you" at you. They are still super nice to you and you still get fed, as evidenced by the fact that *I* still got fed. ;) The other star of the show (at least from what I got) was the turnip greens. Hands down best turnip greens I have EVER had ANYWHERE. I would have been perfectly content if my plate had been nothing but four portions of those greens with another portion of greens on the side (instead of the white bread). Whoever makes those greens deserves a gold medal pinned on them by the President while a choir sings hallelujah in the background, a cannon is fired in salute, and performing monkeys dance the merengue. So, all that being said, I do recommend stopping in at Shep's if you happen to be in or near Palestine. And, not sure if I mentioned, but the greens are pretty good. ;)”

“We arrived right before closing time, but the staff eagerly waited on us. All in our party had the chicken fried steak and we all thought it was very good. The rolls were this tasty yeast rolls with cinnamon butter - can you say yummy. The blue cheese seemed like it was fresh made (if it was from a bottle, it was great quality). The sweet tea was that good southern sweet tea, you know, 2 parts sugar, 1 part tea. ;) all in all, everything was great, our waitress was great in servicing us.”

“A nice young lady checked us in about 0100 hours, very comfortable bed and pillows, room was clean and the whole building appeared to be recently remodeled. Waffle/ cereal breakfast.
