A great find . The food good service outstanding Cecilia is a hard working jewel. The vegan choice is fries. No beer or wine but close to drive through beverage barn. A respite from 290traffic good country fare. My partner is flexitarian loved the breakfast available all day. Easy parking great prices a first choice.

HAD SOME OF THE BEST HOME COOKED FOOD I HAVE HAD AT A RESTAURANT IN A LOOOONG TIME! If you want to eat some food that tastes like your grandma was the one in that kitchen cooking, THIS IS THE SPOT! Let me also tell you, I had one of the BEST cups of Coffee I have had at a restaurant ever, I know that is a strange thing to say, but it is true! Everyone should definitely give them a visit. Best part of all, it’s locally owned!

This place is a gem. Great people and great food. Never disappointed. I ordered biscuits and gravy. Also ordered a hamburger steak both to go. He put them in separate containers but I added them all in one for a photo for y’all. So much flavor and you can tell it’s all made with love. Highly recommend. Plus supporting a local business here that truly deserves it.

A very unassuming place - one that if you blink, you'll literally miss it, except for the presence of the imposing mural on the wall outside, depicting prominent black people.

I ordered a plate of grilled pork chop with mashed potatoes and corn, no drink but a tall glass of ice water. The food was plain but quite tasty, without any embellishments. The ambiance is, likewise, very plain. There are six or seven tables in two rows, that can seat about 25ish guests. And the price is very affordable. My final bill, after taxes and tips came to be just under $10. It is a popular place; I got there just before lunchtime began and within about 15 minutes the place was full. Parking is plentiful.

I've been here twice in the last couple of weeks. First time I had the brisket and sausage plate. In my opinion, this was some of the best brisket I've had in town. I came back and tried their hamburger steak with onions and gravy. The mashed potatoes are homemade and tasted wonderful.

Oh, and be sure to get a glass of sweet tea. Unlike most places that seem to have more sugar than tea, the Elgin Cafe has a great balance where you can still taste the tea.
