Tyku Bistro and Catering

This very cultural Bistro is located on a street corner of a beautifully improved downtown area. With tables for two outside and spacious available seating inside, the deco is elegant yet simple, wonderful use of color, wood and concrete. It reminded me of dining in the Islands. My husband and I came to try out the food and their new Lemonade and Iced Tea I heard about. I had the Jerk Salmon, which was beautifully cooked, meat was moist and tender and not overdone, and wonderfully flavored. The salmon sat on a bed of Caribbean style lentils and rice which looked and tasted amazing. It was accompanied by a mango chutney and chili flavored pickly. Ever flavor of the dish complimented each other, never killed the other flavors and helped to enhance the salmon. We also had a Teriyaki Brussel Spouts appetizer, which had just a sprinkle of sesame seeds. My husband had the Bistro's Burger. From the first bite he never put it down. He didn't even add what he normally does to all burgers. That's saying a lot. The Tyku Bistro Signature Lemonade was a new addition! It was beautifully blended with light hints of fresh ginger and basil! You just have to have a glass, or take home a gallon, we did. We did not get to try the Iced Tea, we will have to go back another day. All-in-all, the ambiance, the food and the people were fantastic. I definitely recommend anyone that enjoys a taste of the Caribbean to make it point to stop by!????????????

Very Nice Atmosphere Excellent Food. It's a Wonderful addition to the Downtown Killeen Area

Placed a group order togo for my coworkers and myself about 15 min after they open to be picked up at 1230. It wasnt completed ontime. This is easy to over look because they got order right and prepped. However the to go utensils are missing knives

I ordered surf and turf. The shrimp slightly smaller than expected it didnt seem like jumbo shrimp. Their taste was fair. Not the best i had but did have a decent balance of seasoning. Adding the steak sauce to it did make them taste better. The steak on the outside is well flavored. It was a touch too chewy for medium well with a little bit more pink than i would like. Once getting past good delicious surface flavor the inside was a bit bland and watery. Not juciey but watery. Not saying this is what is done but the inside wateryness tastes like it was frozen then thawed and cooked before possibly being completely thawed. Smothering it in steak sauce should not be needed to over power the waterey flavor but it is a solution. So the steak could be better. The asparagus was there then it wasn't. No memories or emotions behind it just there then gone. The mashed potatoes were best part of the meal. They are home made and i could taste a bit of egg in it. This gave it a good unique flavor. Over all the portions is smaller than expected majority of the meal was bland at best with exception of the mashed potatoes which were fairly good.

I also got a slice of strawberry cheesecake as well. When ordering over the phone i thought there was strawberry flavor veined through out. In actuality it was just a strawberry ontop and a littlebin the cream on the side. The cheesecake itself though was very deliscious and although not the best its something that is worth adding on for desert.

Over all its smaller portions than one would like. And the taste was okay. I think the prices are a bit high for quality. This all is my honest opinion of Tyku bistro and Catering.

I loved it definitely try the mashed potatoes they are homemade and amazingggg oh and it is definitely affordable!!!! Takes a little time for the food to come out but it’s made to order so I definitely didn’t mind!
