Gilberts Restaurant

Very good authentic Mexican food, staff made it feel like home. Fast service and very attentive. Will definitely eat there again when visiting San Antonio.

It was great as always. It's the only place that I can recommend to my friends my people that come from out of town.

Been going to Gilbert's restaurant for several years. The food is awesome. My favorite plate to order there is the cheese enchiladas. The cook came out this last visit and told us about other plates of food they wanted us to try. Gilbert the owner is there always. Really great guy and very nice always smiling. I am giving it a four star due to the recent visits. A waitress came to us quickly for our drink orders. We mentioned that we knew what we wanted to order but she said she only took drink orders. She said the other waitress would take our food order. We ended waiting another 10 minutes before she came by to take our order. We were about to leave. We had not seen this waitress at all but she seemed to be taking a break in the back tables but you would think the first waitress would of taken care of our food order. Also noticed that the first waitress was taking food order a few tables over even after she had told us she only took drink orders. Once we were able to put our order in everything went fine.

Not sure who's pretending to be Gilbert and replied to my review. Just by reading this anyone will know this is not Gilbert's words. Like I said I've been going here for a long time and it didn't always work the way you stated. There was an older woman years back that was awesome. Really miss her cause she gave the customers great service. But let Gilbert know we will never go back due to the current waitresses he has working for him.

Food was delicious and great portion. Fresh made tortillas. Staff was friendly and attentive. Thank you Gilbert.

Everything is delicious. Always happy with are plates service and pricing . Same cook for over 22yrs . Home style cooking authentic Mexican food . Owner Gilbert will greet your with a smile. Great music as well. It's a must go place 1000% recommended !!!
