This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in San Antonio. I have been coming here for 20+ years and the food is still as good as it ever was. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food.

Food is fantastic. Service excellent. They have to go and great lunch specials. You can take or order over phone to go.

Good food at reasonable prices. The place is packed on weekends and a bit more chaotic than I'd prefer but the staff has it under control.
The line gets long but do not let that deter you. It moves very quickly.

This might be the ONLY mom & pop authentic Chinese cuisine restaurant in San Antonio. The food is consistently delicious and the portions are perfect to share with families. The trick to this restaurant is ordering from the dinner menu. Ordering the entrees and paying close attention to the most AMAZING items on their menu like, salty shrimp, fried dumplings (the BEST in San Antonio), orange chicken, green beans and pork, and their combination rice noodle. They have a lunch menu that includes some of the more "Americanized" Chinese food such as lemon chicken and fried rice. I would argue that you could order this at any "Chinese" food restaurant in SA and it taste the same everywhere. If you are trying Gin's for the first time, I would recommend sticking with the more traditional dishes. They come with endless white or fried rice, so don't think you'll be missing out on their rice. No matter what, you NEED to order the dumplings. Our family have been loyal customers to Gin's for over 25 (as in my parents who are 55 y/o had dates here....) This is my second review of this place because I'm truly obsessed and think so many people would love this place if they gave it a chance.
