The Good:
Very nice place, reminds me of a country hacienda. Quiet & relaxed. Great place to unwind. Dark heavy wood furnishings. Good bartender, friendly & knowledgeable. Premium liquors in the well.
The Bad:
--- Way overpriced.
--- No drought beer. Bottles only. A 24oz bottle of Shiner Bock is $9.50. A regular bottle is $4.75. A (Smirnoff) screwdriver is $6.50.
--- Nonsense Happy Hour from 3pm to 6pm. $1 off regular prices. If you get off of work at 5pm, you're better off going to any number of downtown bars that have Happy Hour until 7pm, some until 8pm.
--- Sexist daily specials. On one day it's female ATT employees. On another it's female Frost Bank employees. On another night, it's female employees of another downtown firm. I don't think it's even legal to have specials based on gender.
The Gray:
I did not try any of the food, which is mostly salads, sandwiches & pizzas. The full menu is served until 2pm. After 2pm, they serve only pizzas. The owners of El Nuevo Tenampa also own Guillermo's Deli on McCullough , so the food is probably very good.
This bar has tons of potential. A few management changes and the addition of 2-3 beer taps (Shiner Bock, Miller Lite, Lone Star) would make this place a winner.
