visited back in February for Lunch, In from Dallas, I actually grew up just down the street from this place. EXCELLENT FOOD!!! Service was outstanding. When I'm back in SA, this will be a must stop. La comida estuvo desidiosa.
Good food. Tasty. They were out of several sides, however.
My Puerto Rican friend has been wanting to come to El Jibarazo for some time, so today we made the trek into the Big City (we're from Kerrville) to give it a try.
Here's the set up: a food cart permanently in place and a covered patio with picnic tables. Absolutely nothing fancy here, thank goodness! Styrofoam plates, plastic utensils--what more do you need? Music? Okay, got you covered. The menu is a study in simplicity--sandwiches, mofongo plates, meat plates, empanadas and mini tacos for the main offerings; maduros, tostones, rellanos de papa and more as appetizers and sides.
As my friend and I were waiting for our order to be taken, she got a far away look in her eyes; "it smells like my mother's kitchen." From that instant, I knew it would be great food. We ordered a Cubano to split plus we each had mofongo, she with pernil, me with carnitas fritas. We had PR sodas, she a Coco Rico, me a Kola Champagne.
Awesome food. My daughter has been gone on Military leave overseas good food to come home to.
Visited this food truck location twice now. I must say I am still impressed at how delicious the food is. Had the Cuban sandwich with a beef empanada and both were delicious. I don't go that often, as it's quite a drive for me. But can't wait to try something else on my next visit. No photos taken this time.
