Fish is always fresh and hot never burned or dry. Great service and fast
Nothing fancy about this place but tasty food, friendly service, and good prices make it a place that I regret not trying sooner. An article in the Express News grabbed my interest and I'm glad it did. The tartar sauce was amazing and I'm not even a tartar sauce fan. Tasty food that isn't overly greasy for a fast food place and you get a lot of food for your money. Support Fred's!
Fred's Fish Fry is a San Antonio institution. We've all seen the locations, with no cars in the parking lot - that's not because no one is there, it's because people in the neighborhood just walk in. And people who pull up in their cars are usually picking up a to-go order. The seafood is good. Better than Long John Silver's (what happened to LJS?!?), but not Sea Island; that's ok, this is not supposed to be a fancy restaurant, just a place for good fast food. If you're driving down Blanco Road and craving some fish and chips, or an order of fried shrimp, this will do the job. The staff was friendly and helpful.
The fish was really good, the chicken was not cooked fresh. There for 1 star for the chicken, now let me say this if the chicken had been cooked fresh. There chicken would be great because there batter is very tasty !!!
