Godai Sushi Bar & Japanese Restaurant

Goro is the most amazing Sushi Chef on the planet! I got to become friends with him when I worked right across the street for a while and he is just as great of a person too. I usually went alone and sat at the bar area to eat , but I never felt like I was eating by myself . Goro was always there to chat and flash that big smile . There are always some great people sitting next to you ready to strike up a chat as well . I try to make it in to see Goro as often as I can even though I don’t work so close anymore . That was over 10 years ago and when I walk in he still remembers my name ! Don’t miss out on the Godai experience!

Best sushi in town. This place has the wonderful traditional sushi plus a great variety of different dishes and rolls.
The sushi is all made by the head chef and not some guys in the make who are not trained professionally.
The sushi is superb and you always feel welcome. I'm only afraid that it's gotten too popular.

We have been eating at Godai for about 13 years. The food and service are always exceptional! The sushi is fresh and so flavorful. My mother lived in Japan and his Katsu is as good as it was there. We love their Baked Scallop Roll, A&M Roll, & Virgin Roll are some of our favorites.

The sushi was tasty and very fresh. Not to bury the lead but the house-specialty fried crab rolls appetizer are absolutely dynamite! The establishment also has an impressive assortment of wines to pair with your entree.

This place has to be one of my favorite for sushi in San Antonio.

First time I went was a few weeks ago. A buddy and I ordered the Godai sushi and nigiri. It was a lovely planted dish and it was delicious.

The gentleman at the bar preparing the sushi was friendly and shared fun conversation while he made our food.

The wait staff was also very friendly and attentive. We ordered some beer and sake which they promptly poured for us. They also kept checking up on us regularly.

All in all a great experience. Make sure to drop by!
