Ay Chiwawa Mexican Cafe

The food is delicious! I ordered mini tacos and my friend ordered a guarache and they both tasted like homemade! Definitely going back! You can also dine in and the service was excellent, we asked if they had different salsas and they brought us 3 different kinds and the green one was hot!

Full transparency ; I recently moved back to San Antonio and am relishing the many Mexican restaurants and taco joints. Ay Chiwawa fills a nice middle range of both decor and price. My first requirement for a Mexican Cafe is the quality of their salsa and bowl of free tortilla chips These starters were excellent and the friendly waiter kept them coming. A nice place to have a business lunch or take the family at night

This place used to be a palapas but now its Ay Chiwawa.. they still have most of their so loyal and dedicated crew serving San Antonio for sometimes more than a decade. Ay Chiwawa expanded its menu and the guaraches are delicious! I would recommend this place any time. Ask for Pepe or Oscar they are phenomenal! Kike their manager is awesome.

Came for brunch on a weekday, was seated right away. Took a minute to get our order taken but food came fast, soon after the order was placed. Breakfast egg taco portion is way too big, probably 4 eggs worth per taco. Bean & cheese taco is mostly cheese, too few refried beans. Great service & good food!

The service is phenomenal and the margarita recipe is sublime. The same staff under a new banner with better recipes. Sometimes change is good. So is their white cheese dip. Breakfast the day after is good too.
