Chef Joe Asian Cuisine

I try to eat Asian food all throughout the city and surrounding areas. I ordered a pepper steak and fried rice and a sweet and sour chicken. The plate came with spring rolls and i added the two egg rolls. The food was alright. I wouldn't say it was bad or very good. At most it was average. I gave Chef Joe a try but for me I will not be going back. The Pepper Steak had portions that were over salted and the chicken was not anything wonderful. I can say that the egg rolls I felt were very good but I dont think that the egg rolls should be the best part of the dish.

I don't post reviews often, but I have to now. Up front, it's outstanding! We ordered egg rolls, vegetable lo mein, beef with mushrooms, and shrimp fried rice.

Unlike many Chinese food places, these dishes all have their own unique flavor. And the spicing is slightly different from others.

One of the biggest factors we both noticed is nothing is greasy. Sometimes egg rolls and noodles can be a little slick, but these are not. They even tossed in a couple of free spring rolls since we were first time customers.

The condiments are standard Chinese food place packets, but no fortune cookies. Maybe an oversight, or they just don't. Will find out next time. They make food to order, so if getting take out, call ahead.

For those familiar with the area, they are on Walzem Rd, in the old Genghis Khan Mongolian grill place. The place is clean, the staff is very friendly. My wife and I sincerely hope they survive. They are 4 months old, and if word gets around, they will do well.

The food was really good we had their Provence special. The prices are really good as well the place is nice and clean. I'm definitely going to have to go back there again before I move.

I just happened upon Chef Joe's and stopped in for take out. I spoke at length with the very pleasant gal who was waiting tables, and she was very helpful. I ordered the Beef with Mushrooms and it was very good! The fried rice was also very tasty! I will definitely be back. I found the food to be better than 95% of the Asian food I've had in San Antonio, and I've probably eaten at 80% or more of all Asian restaurants in town! Kudos!

The staff is super nice. The ambience is relaxed and clean. This place just opened and is one of my favorites in that area. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. I got the sesame chicken which was cooked perfect and not drowned in sauce. After only one visit, this is now my new Chinese food spot for lunch.
