Wow! What a great experience at this restaurant. The owner dropped by our table and shared info about the menu, his favorite dishes, and where they came from. He was personable and friendly, and the food was fantastic and savory. I'll definitely be a repeat customer.
As someone with family from Indian/Pakistan. My relatives attest that this is how the food is back home. Growing up eating food like this, I also believe the flavors are spot on and delicious. Most people probably think about buffet when you think of Indian food, but most of that food isn't really as it would be at home. Pakistani food has more flavor in my opinion - delicious. Try it.
When I first walked in, a customer was talking to her boyfriend absolutely RAVING about how much she loved the food here. Good start.
The gentleman at the counter was, I'm assuming, the owner and cook. He was a gentle soul and he was so proud to tell me about how he prepares his food, what he's cooking on which days of the week, and the spices, etc. It's obvious that he put a lot of love into his food.
The food is ASTOUNDING. The chicken is juicy, the fish is beautifully seasoned, and the goat is tender and falls apart with a fork. The samosas are enormous and flavorful.
I will give a bit of warning though -- nearly everything is spicy. My fiancé loves spicy food so didn't feel anything. I'm a weenie and Ill admit that I was struggling a bit. The flavors are BOMB but if you absolutely can't stand spice, you might have a hard time.
I would give this place a hearty chance. How often do we find authentic Pakistani food made with love in San Antonio?
