Great place to eat just like in Hawaii. Staff is super friendly and welcoming. The portions are good size but the one thing I forgot to get was the lumpia so I'll be back soon.
Tried Hawaiian barbecue for the first time here and it was delicious. The chicken was juicy, the fish and shrimp wasn't too breaded, and the sides complemented everything well.
I feel the need to point out that the white rice isn't necessarily flavorful by itself, but that's common of Asian Pacific cultures. Feel free to research the history on that.
I'll be going here again for sure!
Good restaurant, good food. Check them out. You gotta try their BBQ Chicken Bowl. Hopefully, they’ll stay stocked up.
My wife and I have LOVED L&L since we took our honeymoon in Hawaii and tried it there first. When we figured out that there was one in San Antonio, we were ECSTATIC! We have eaten at the Austin Hwy location many times, even though we live by Lackland. So when I found out THIS location, only 5 minutes from where I live was opening... I had to get there.
Right now, since they just opened last week, they don't quite have EVERYTHING yet, and they won't let you sub sides right now, but I asked, and they said those things would come eventually. Whatever, still worth it!
I ordered the short ribs, my wife ordered chicken katsu, and we both got spam musubi. I added a salad, too. Both plates come automatically with steamed rice and macaroni salad. The service was FAB! I was greeted by at least 3 people, and everything went smoothly ordering. It took about 15 minutes for the food to come out (I ordered to go), and I watched them check to make sure my order was correct. The first picture has the spam musubi and the short ribs with rice and macaroni salad. I absolutely ADORE the mac salad - it's my favorite side! The second one is the chicken katsu plate, and the third one is the salad with another spam musubi and the sauce for the chicken katsu.
Everything was hot and delicious (or cold and delicious, in the case of the salads), quality and flavor on par with the other location AND the one we ate at in Kona, and I'm so glad to say I'll be eating there regularly, now that this one is so close!
So happy that we now have Hawaiian food closer to home now. My little poly-mix family loves it!
