The "Sausage Party" is a strong contender for best bagel sandwich I have ever had in my life. I tried recreating it once but, alas dear reader, I came nowhere close to the excellence of Wild Barley. Do yourself a favor and try them ASAP!
Mmmmmm sourdough bagels 😋I don’t normally go for a bagel but something about a wood fire cooked sourdough bagel made me want to try this place out. There was a seasoning on the everything bagel that was new to me for an everything bagel, but it was still really good! Really nice people that own/run this place!
2/6/21:
Just had the rosemary and sea salt bagel with jalepeno and onion spread and it was divineeeee!! Can’t wait to have another sometime!
San Antonio has some of the worst bagels for nearly any city I’ve been to. It is beyond my level of understanding how in a city of nearly 1.5 million people we can’t find 10 of them to operate top notch bagel bakeries across different neighborhoods.
Good news is - this place is different.
I got their lox sandwich which at $10 is at the high end in terms of price for their breakfast menu. Totally worth it.
Great balance of lox, onion, tomatoes and cream cheese. Lots of dill but you likely don’t care about that..
Let’s talk about the everything bagel. My biggest complaint about bagels in San Antonio is that the dough is so overworked the final bagel ends up overwhelmingly chewy, tough and dense. This place seemed to get it and provided a bagel with an appropriate level of chew. Toppings were diversified and well adhered. Good texture throughout. I’ll be coming back just for the bagels.
Parkings a little weird. We came early and didn’t have a problem but if they were busy I’d see it being an issue.
I recommend you try this place out.
Best bagels I've had in SA so far. Thanks Mark!
Edit: had to edit my review after trying their pizza tonight. That's some good pizza over there, my new go to spot. I mean look how good that looks. Cool area to eat at too, nice outdoor seating. Ambiance out the wazoo.
The bagels here are not your standard bagels. They are more of a bagel chip meets bread creation which allows the bagel to retain more of their signature flavors. They selections are good and the quality of the ingredients make for an enjoyable and satisfying meal.
